About Us
Ongoing growth is a goal and a commitment we’ve made here at TCSB Credit Union. Membership in our credit union is open to any employee of the school board as well as any member of their family.Help us grow our membership by suggesting to your fellow employees and family members that membership is ownership. It makes sense to be an owner of your financial institution rather than a customer who has no say in the direction of his or her funds. We focus on providing full-service personalized banking. We believe you’re happy with the services you receive and we’d love to prove that to your colleagues and families as well, refer a member today and we’ll thank you with a special gift.
Mission Statement:
“ To provide our community with quality financial products, convenience, and superior service.”

The Credit Union Story
- Begun in Quebec in 1900 by A. Desjardins, the Credit Union system was organized as a co-operative system for people of ordinary means to borrow money
- Expanded rapidly as it avoided the exorbitant interest rates charged by private lenders to ordinary workers
- Popularized by School Boards, labour organizations and church groups from the 1920’s to 1970’s as an alternative banking system, owned and managed by its members
- 1 in 3 Canadians are members of Credit Unions or Caisses Populaires
- Our TCSBECU was established in 1971 to assist employees of this School Board to borrow, save and manage their finances
- Governed under the authority of the Ontario Ministry of Finance and guaranteed by the Deposit Insurance Corporation of Ontario to protect member deposits
- Members meet annually to elect a Board of Directors who, as volunteers, employ qualified staff to manage the day-to-day operations
- Although established as a support to all employees, the Credit Union is fully arm’s length from all School Board business as is the business of the C.U. from the School Board
- This Credit Union has grown and expanded over the years offering a full range
of banking services and
financial options while
being an active contributor
to the community it serves,
particularly The Angel
Foundation for Learning
